The Asia-Pacific Region (ILS-AP) recognises and supports a coordinated approach to promoting lifesaving and drowning prevention across the region in areas of greatest need, including in nations without members, and in alignment to ILS Rescue Policies, WHO Global Report on Drowning: Preventing a Leading Killer (2014) and the WHO Preventing Drowning: an implementation guide (2017) .
The ILS-AP fosters drowning prevention efforts through the ILS members across the vast region that encompasses more than half the world’s population and unfortunately more than half the world’s drowning deaths.
The World Conferences on Drowning Prevention is an important forum through which the ILS-AP can facilitate exchange of drowning prevention research practice.
