In Japan in 2016, the Regional Development Plan 2016 to 2020 for the Asia-Pacific Region of the International Life Saving Federation (ILS) was developed by the Regional Board in consultation with the ILS members; including those of long standing and also those that are relatively new and emerging lifesaving organisations.
The Regional Development Plan 2016 to 2020, is critical to building of the progress of ILS members; both individually and collectively.
The ILS and its members across the Region are working on a range of interventions to reduce drowning. However, the ILS Asia-Pacific Region recognizes that to arrest and address the high number of drowning deaths and injuries across the vast Region will take considerable effort that can only be achieved through effective collaborations with governments, international NGOs and consortia to create and maintain momentum.
It is proposed to have an updated plan at the next Regional General Assembly to be held in 2021.
